Red Cross celebrates 10 years of the Home Fire Campaign

SHAWNEE - As part of Community Risk Reduction Week festivities (observed January 20-26), the American Red Cross of South Central and Southeast Oklahoma encourages everyone to follow important steps to prevent home fires. Over the past decade, The Red Cross Home Fire Campaign has saved more than 2,000 lives, installed nearly 3 million smoke alarms, made over 1.2 million households safer and served over 3.1 million people through in-home visits.

Oklahoma artists invited to submit designs for OKC Zoo License Plate contest

Oklahoma’s most popular destination for connecting people with wildlife, the OKC Zoo, will soon be popular for its own license plate, too! The Oklahoma Zoological Society (OZS) is announcing a campaign to have an official Oklahoma license plate created in honor of the Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden and welcoming Oklahomans to be part of the creative process to bring this project to life. To launch this campaign, OZS is hosting A License Plate Contest and inviting talented Oklahoma-based artists to submit their original design for a license plate representing the OKC Zoo.

Zoo welcomes rescued Bobcat to its animal family

The Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden welcomes Pando, a female, 7-month-old bobcat, to her home in the newly renovated Cat Forest habitat. Found as a kitten in Coalinga, California by a member of the public, the bobcat was cared for by two California-based rescue organizations—Pacific Wildlife Care in Morro Bay and Sonoma County Wildlife Rescue in Petaluma—before coming to the OKC Zoo.
