Oklahoma Heritage Preservation Grant applications open Sept. 1

OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma Historical Society (OHS) will open applications for the 2026 grant cycle of the Oklahoma Heritage Preservation Grant Program on Monday, September 1. This grants-in-aid program will offer awards ranging from $1,000 to $25,000 to municipal, county, or tribal governments, as well as nonprofit historical organizations and their support groups.

Shawnee Parks and Recreation

Hello, Shawnee! Thank you to everyone who came out last Saturday evening for our first Back-to-School Bash! This was a great way to finish out the summer, and despite the heat, we had over 100 folks show up at Woodland Veterans Park! It was great to see all the kids and families playing in the park while enjoying some upbeat music and tasty snacks! We hope the school year is off to a smooth start for you and your loved ones. AAA: Flash flooding nationwide means water damaged cars could soon flood the market

As of July 15, more than 3,000 flash flood warnings had been issued in communities across the United States – that’s the highest on record for the time period since the modern alert system went into effect in the mid-1980’s. Vehicles across the country have been trapped in those rising and rushing flood waters this year.
