Oklahoma’s 988 Mental Health Lifeline performs among top 10 in nation Three months after the launch of Oklahoma’s 988 Mental Health Lifeline in mid-July, the local call center is seeing high levels of response and assistance. According to the Oklahoma call center dashboard, the state currently operates at a 99.9% answer rate with an average answer speed of 11 seconds.

Sample ballots available for Nov. 8 election; early voting begins Nov. 2

Sample ballots are now available for the Nov. 8 General Election. Voters can download a sample ballot using the State Election Board’s OK Voter Portal at oklahoma. gov/elections/ovp or pick up a copy at the Pottawatomie County Election Board during normal business hours. Pottawatomie County Election Board Secretary Patricia Carter reminds voters that sample ballots are specific to each person.

Submission dates announced for $6M ‘CLASS 2.0’ grant initiative

State will award up to $800 to teachers for classroom projects The Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) announces it is moving forward with phase two of the Oklahoma Classroom Learning and School Supplies (CLASS) Grant initiative, dedicating $6 million in federal relief funds to help classroom teachers obtain resources for their students through the national nonprofit DonorsChoose. The OSDE will provide up to $800 to an educator’s project, available on a firstcome, first-served basis for only one project per classroom teacher.

Paramount+ wraps Season One of ‘Tulsa King’ in Oklahoma

B7 OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO) is proud to announce that Paramount+ has wrapped principal photography on season one of “Tulsa King” in Oklahoma. “Tulsa King” is the largest, scripted television series to be produced in Oklahoma using the state’s production incentives under the “Filmed in Oklahoma Act of 2021.” Creating hundreds of career opportunities, filming for the series largely took place in Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Bethany and multiple areas in the surrounding regions over the course of nearly six months.

SSC Educational Foundation appoints three new trustees

The Seminole State College Educational Foundation welcomed three new trustees during their quarterly meeting on Oct. 19. President and CEO of the Avedis Foundation Dr. Kathy Laster, Director of Kontoor Brands-Wrangler Fulfillment Center Ray McQuiston and Arvest Community Bank President of Shawnee Brian Nave have all been selected to serve as members on the Foundation Board. All were appointed to serve three-year terms. Bringing more than three decades of business management, board leadership, professional consulting, and clinical practice experience, Dr. Kathy Laster was named to lead the Avedis Foundation in July 2018. She served as the CEO of Impact Consulting in Oklahoma City and previously maintained a private psychology practice in Shawnee. Prior to that, she held corporate management positions with AT&T and Southwestern Bell.
