Community Renewal gears up for key festival planning

For the past several years Community Renewal of Pottawatomie County has immersed itself neckdeep in efforts to bring the community together; with the nonprofit’s recent takeover of some key city events, it has now taken a deep dive. For years, the City of Shawnee contracted with Safe Events For Families (SEFF) to provide community events -- including Boo on Bell and the Downtown Christmas Parade.

Shawnee Senior Recreation

Good morning, Shawnee! Here at the Senior Recreation Center at 401 N. Bell, we host a variety of creative groups for ages 55+. Our crochet collection of members gathers each Thursday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. Sue Smith taught this crochet group for many years, and she still stops in from time to time. The dedicated bunch of crochet enthusiasts enjoy a time of crochet, fellowship, and support. Others are welcome to join them!

Tecumseh to celebrate Frontier Days

There will plenty of fun in Tecumseh Saturday, Sept 17, as the city celebrates its history with Frontier Days events. Activities are planned all day Saturday downtown, including the Frontier Days parade at 10 a.m., followed by events throughout the day and then an evening full of events and music at Slick Humphrey Park.
