Northridge begins study of the Gospel of John

An informal, but in-depth study of the Gospel of John will be offered for adults Monday evenings at 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. beginning Sept. 12, running through Dec. 12. Emphasis will be placed on the purpose of John’s writing and the conceptual word pictures he uses to describe Christ on earth. The teachings of Christ will be studied in context of their original settings, with lasting messages for today. The instructor is Cliff Craig, recently retired from over 40 years of teaching Bible in churches and colleges. The study is free to all and will meet at Northridge Church of Christ, 1001 E MacArthur. OG&E’s Weatherization Program helps Shawnee customers reduce energy bill

SHAWNEE - While Fall is just around the corner, afternoon temperatures are still soaring, and many Shawnee residents are looking for ways to beat the heat while keeping their energy costs down. OG&E customers who meet certain income criteria may be eligible for the utility company’s Weatherization Program, an energy- efficiency solution that covers a wide range of energy-saving home improvements at no additional cost to the customer.

Oklahoma among more than 40 states to issue $12.5B in USDA’s Child Food Benefits for Summer

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has partnered with 42 states and territories across the country to provide summer food buying benefits to families with children. These states and territories will provide an estimated $12.5 billion in temporary nutrition benefits to approximately 32 million children.

TSET Board approves resolutions

The Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust (TSET) Board of Directors passed three resolutions supporting stronger vapor retailer licensing, praising recent tobacco control actions by the Food and Drug Administration and recommending further efforts to reform Youth Purchase, Use, and Possession laws to reduce underage use of tobacco. The unanimous votes came at the Board’s regular meeting on Aug.
