Shawnee therapist earns Play Therapy Credential Brooke Runion, MS, LMFT, of Shawnee, earned the prestigious Registered Play Therapist (RPT) credential conferred by the Association for Play Therapy (APT), according to its President & CEO, Kathryn Lebby, CAE, CMP. To become a Registered Play Therapist, applicants must have earned a traditional master’s or higher mental health degree from an institution of higher education, 150 clock hours of play therapy training, two years and 2,000 hours of clinical experience, 500 hours of supervised play therapy experience, and be licensed or certified by their state boards of practice.

Former Belles basketball coach in docuseries on the history of women’s collegiate basketball

Former Seminole State College Belles Head Basketball Coach Dixie Woodall was recently interviewed by TV sports analyst Brenda VanLengen for her upcoming docuseries, “If Not for Them.” The series is on the women who grew the sport of women’s basketball before Title IX, which ensured the right for young women to participate in collegiate athletics.

Commissioners approve memorial tree in new admin building plaza

The Pottawatomie County Board of County Commissioners on Monday approved several items of business and gave approval for a memorial tree to be planted in honor of the late David Hammer. Commissioner Melissa Dennis said she was approached by local attorneys asking about planting a tree in honor of David Hammer in front of the county’s new administration building that is under construction adjacent to the county courthouse.
