24 states get $560M for high-priority cleanup of wells

With 1,196 wells to address, State of Oklahoma to get share of funds NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The Interior Department is giving 24 states a total of $560 million to start cleaning high-priority derelict oil and gas wells abandoned on state and private land, the department said Thursday. It said up to 10,000 wells could be dealt with as the government begins allocating $4.7 billion set aside to create an orphan well cleanup program under the bipartisan infrastructure plan approved late last year.

Always read the label of any pesticide before you use it and consider what may be downwind from you that may be harmed by that pesticide application. Making good pesticide application decisions will help reduce your risks of off target herbicide damage. Failing to make good application decisions could make you financially liable for any harm that you do. So how can we utilize the agricultural production practices we need to be productive, and at the same time do no harm to our neighbor’s livelihood?

Shawnee veteran to be recognized at 65th class reunion

By Elisabeth Slay The Shawnee News-Star eslay@news-star.com Veteran and Shawnee native Dan Glenn will receive a bronze plaque commemorating his service in the Navy when the Shawnee High School Class of 1957 holds its 65th class reunion this weekend in Shawnee. According to fellow veteran and classmate Walter Coffey, the main purpose of this award is to commemorate Glenn’s time as a Prisoner of War for six years during the Vietnam War.
