Hosts for the Leadership Oklahoma (LOK) retreat held at St. Crispin’s Conference Center display personalized leather “Welcome to Seminole” bags prepared for members of Class 35 of the statewide leadership program. A reception held Wednesday night was sponsored by the Jasmine Moran Children’s Museum, BancFirst and Seminole State College.
McALESTER, Okla. (AP) — Oklahoma executed a man Thursday for a 1997 killing, despite a recommendation from the state’s Pardon and Parole Board that his life be spared.
Not all survivors of the May 2-8 tornadoes, severe storms and flooding may be eligible for FEMA assistance. Others may be eligible for some aid but for less than they need.

As we age, one thing we should consider planning for is, if you or your loved-one needs the care a nursing home provides. One step to help choose a facility is finding out about the cost—How much is it? How are you going to pay for it? What care or services are included for that cost? Often Social Security income, pensions, veteran’s benefits, long-term care insurance and other private pay sources may contribute to the cost.
Hanaa Saidi, a 2021 Graduate of Shawnee High School, and Payton Greenwood, a 2022 Graduate of Shawnee High School, are currently both attending The University of Oklahoma. Both are members of the President’s Leadership Class.
School is in full swing! It’s back to homework and schedules, with set bedtimes and rushing out the door to make the bus. This is a great time to jump-start some cleaning routines at home.
East Central University came to life as new and returning students prowled onto the Tiger campus over the last two weeks. More than 1,000 new ECU tiger students enrolled in classes, bringing the sleepy summer campus to life for the fall semester.
