Legendary activist Opal Lee to lead round table discussion in Shawnee

Activist Opal Lee, known as the “national grandmother of Juneteenth,” is partnering with the Citizen Potawatomi Nation (CPN) and others to lead a discussion on faith, liberty and courage in the struggle for racial equality. Lee spent decades advocating for the recognition of Juneteenth and helped lead a 2.5-mile walk in honor of the 2.5 years it took for news of the Emancipation Proclamation to reach Texas.
