
August is a good month to prune Iris plants
By now most Iris plants are looking pretty worn out. The leaves have provided nourishment to the rhizomes. If you want to wait until the weather moderates in September to apply these suggestions, that would be OK . What you should do now is prune the existing leaves to about 4 to 6 inches. A suggested procedure that is more attractive is to prune the plant so that leaves look like a teepee. The middle leaf is tallest and the side leaves are at an angle.
