Resident question over ball field spurs action

Help may be on the way to resolve an ongoing issue at a local park, after public comments before City Commissioners recently shed light on the situation. During the July 5 regular meeting of Shawnee City Commissioners, a local baseball coach asked for guidance concerning responsibilities assigned to the City of Shawnee as part of an agreement authorized in May last year between the city and the Troy & Dollie Smith Family YMCA for operation and use of Lion’s Club Park.

SSC’s GEAR UP Program Hosts Summer Camps

Seminole State College GEAR UP program recently completed two different residential camps for high school students in the month of June. The theme for the camps was Career Encounters, based upon the 1977 film “Close Encounters of the Third Kind.” Students toured career technical sites and college programs and then visited various businesses where employees perform the tasks and skills learned in the career tech or college programs.

Arvest Bank has announced a fiveyear partnership with Google Cloud to enable and accelerate its multi-year digital transformation strategy. The announcement follows the bank’s partnership with technology leader Thought Machine, and comes on the heels of its announcement that growth strategist Laura Merling has joined Arvest to lead transformation, technology and bank operations.
