Blue Zones Project Pottawatomie County recently completed its Move to the Moon, challenging area residents to step into a collective fitness effort. The goal was to log enough steps together to figuratively cover the distance to the moon. With 29 teams registered, 638,121,872.4 steps were collected during the event.

Meeker High School student Kaylin McRae will be competing in barrel racing and pole bending at the International Youth Finals Rodeo in Shawnee July 10-15. For about five years McRae has trained herself and horses in barrel racing and pole bending.
WASHINGTON (AP) — NASA said Wednesday that contact has been restored with its $32.7 million spacecraft headed to the moon to test out a lopsided lunar orbit. Contact was lost after one successful communication and a second partial one on Monday, after the spacecraft left Earth’s orbit on its way to the moon, the space agency said.
Oklahoma homeowners and renters in seven counties who sustained damage from the recent severe storms, tornadoes and flooding from May 2-8 could be eligible for help from FEMA. The designated counties for FEMA Individual Assistance are Adair, Cherokee, Muskogee, Okmulgee, Pottawatomie, Seminole and Tulsa.
