Upcoming shows in Lyric’s 60th season include Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Carousel (July 5-10) and Kinky Boots (July 19-24). Lyric’s Family Favorite feature, Roald Dahl’s Matilda, kicked off the summer season at the Civic Center in June.

The gray fox laid by the road for a few days, but no other scavengers took interest. Back on our property the fox was gently laid under the trees in the woods. Sounds crazy, but I feel less sad knowing the fox is home.
Shawnee’s festivals are about to be handled by a new group. For years, the City of Shawnee contracted with Safe Events For Families (SEFF) to provide community events -- including Boo on Bell and the Downtown Christmas Parade.

Calihoma Hot Dogs and Kona Ice will be available, plus live music starts at 6 p.m. with Charging Rhino (Ted Nugent Tribute band) and Next Halen before the fireworks start at 10 p.m. Parking is available at Shawnee Outdoors, FireLake Casino, FireLake Arena and FireLake Grocery.
Oklahoma homeowners and renters in seven counties who sustained damage from the recent severe storms, tornadoes and flooding from May 2-8 could be eligible for help from FEMA. The designated counties for FEMA Individual Assistance are Adair, Cherokee, Muskogee, Okmulgee, Pottawatomie, Seminole and Tulsa.
