OKLAHOMA CITY – Two measures authored by Rep. Danny Sterling, R-Tecumseh, aimed at improving educational access for justice-involved youth and strengthening child protection laws, have officially been signed into law.
Canadian Valley Electric Cooperative (CVEC) and Western Farmers Electric Cooperative (WFEC) have announced that more than $2.4 million was directed to schools across the region in 2024, furthering the coops' long-standing commitment to education, community development, and the success of Oklahoma’s youth. Schools in Pottawatomie County received a total of $765,788.37.
In April, city staff presented a draft of next year’s proposed budget. Shawnee’s FY 2025-26 starts July 1 and will end June 30, 2026.
Seminole State College honored graduates at its 92nd Commencement Ceremony on May 9 in the Raymond Harber Field House. The capacity crowd cheered on students as they received their diplomas.
Governor Kevin Stitt has appointed Seminole resident Mona Adkisson to serve as a member of the Seminole State College Board of Regents. Her appointment was presented by Senator Grant Green and confirmed by the Oklahoma State Senate Education Committee at the State Capitol on May 6.
