Museum manages large haul from News-Star

While The Shawnee News-Star prepares to move into a new office space, some of its historic items are being passed along to the Pottawatomie County Historical Society Museum. To get a particular donation to the museum several blocks away last Thursday afternoon, museum employee Terry Chancellor had to drive it perched on a forklift from the News-Star office on Bell Street. Chancellor hauled a large paper cutter that has supplemented the newspaper’s business operation for decades.

Russian war effort runs into diplomatic, military hurdles

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Its military bogged down in a grinding conflict in eastern Ukraine, Russia lost diplomatic ground over the weekend as two more European nations moved closer to joining NATO. Finland announced Sunday that it was seeking to join the alliance, saying Russia’s invasion of Ukraine nearly three months ago had changed Europe’s security landscape.
