At April’s Shawnee City Commission meeting, Shawnee Fire Chief James Kriwanek presented a proposal to commissioners to consider a planned pumper truck purchase ahead of schedule, as an opportunity came along that fit the department’s needs and CIP goal – ultimately offering considerable savings, as well as short delivery time. “In alignment with the city’s 2025-2029 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP), the Suppression Division of the Shawnee Fire Department is scheduled to receive a replacement for Engine 3,” he said.
