Man charged in Dave Chappelle attack pleads not guilty LOS ANGELES (AP) -A man charged in an attack on comedian Dave Chappelle during a performance at the Hollywood Bowl pleaded not guilty Friday to four misdemeanors. Isaiah Lee, 23, entered the not guilty pleas in a Los Angeles courtroom to charges of battery, possessing a deadly weapon with intent to assault unlawfully crossing from a spectator area onto a stage at a theatrical event and interfering with or delaying such an event with unlawful conduct.

Clean-up and relief efforts continued in Seminole Friday along with damage assessments in Pottawatomie County after a Wednesday storm system spawned several tornadoes that damaged a school, along with a marijuana farm near Maud and several homes in Pottawatomie County.

This week the city announced its intent to host some town halls to provide the community an opportunity for input regarding plans to repair and renovate the Santa Fe Depot. Shawnee Community Development Director Rian Harkins said residents will be able to participate, sharing thoughts and providing input.

Believe it or not Mother’s Day is not just an invented holiday to up the sales of cards and flowers. There is a history that dates back to ancient Greece. In the late 19th Century “Mothering Day” was actually celebrated in the U.K. and Britain during the Lenten season as parishioners would return to worship at their home or “mother” church. In the early 20th century in America celebrations centered around women calling for peace and unifying after the deep dissension from the Civil War. In 1908 Anna Jarvis, who remained single and without her own children throughout her life, conceived of a day to honor her own mother and all mothers who had given and sacrificed for their children. Jarvis’ idea was that people could contact their mother, join her in going to a church service, and bestow upon her a white carnation. At the time of her death in 1948 Jarvis was actively lobbying the government against the holiday. Even spending most of her personal money on legal fees in suits against the use of the name “Mother’s Day” showing her displeasure that the day had become over commercialized and misrepresented the original idea. Seminole State College called of its annual Commencement ceremony that was set to be held May 6 due to the effects of Wednesday evening’s tornado in Seminole. Emergency response coordinators advised the College to not host the event due to the potential for intermittent loss of power and general safety issues.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Gross Receipts to the Treasury in April surged to a record high driven by income tax payments, but other indicators point to a cautionary outlook, State Treasurer Randy McDaniel said.
