City offers guidance for combating Zebra mussels at lake

With the recent issuance of a statement from the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife (ODWC) that invasive zebra mussels have been confirmed at Shawnee Twin Lakes, City of Shawnee Utilities Director Brad Schmidt addressed the commission and residents Monday, offering some guidance on how to better protect themselves and their possessions from potential damage, as well as slow the spread. The zebra mussel is a small mussel named for the striped pattern of its shell.

Prague Kolache Festival is May 7

The Prague Kolache Festival is back after a two-year cancellation due to the pandemic. Everyone is invited to attend and celebrate the Czech heritage of the community with many activities. Main Street from the stoplight to the Prague Park will be blocked off for the festival featuring numerous food booths and a grandstand where entertainment will be going on all day.
