Shawnee Forward has been awarded a $200,000 grant from the Oklahoma Partnership for School Readiness (OPSR) as a part of their Preschool Development Grant Birth-to-Five (PDG B-5) initiative to launch “Care to Grow: Childcare Support for Workforce Strength.” This innovative initiative will provide financial relief for working parents while helping local businesses retain talent and strengthen the workforce. With childcare costs and availability remaining a major hurdle for employees and employers alike, Care to Grow aims to bridge the gap.

Held on the third Thursday of each month through the summer, Shawnee Bike Night transforms Bell Street between Main and 10th into a buzzing celebration of motorcycles, nostalgia, and local flavor.

Assessment for the dam at Shawnee Twin Lakes has been done and Commissioners heard the results of the independent findings from Freese and Nichols.
Jillian Harvey, a teacher at North Rock Creek High School, has been selected as the News-Star's March Teacher of the Month, an award sponsored by the News-Star and the Citizen Potawatomi Nation. Harvey teaches 12th grade English IV, 11th grade English III, ACT prep, and Middle School Journalism.
Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education Chancellor Sean Burrage toured Seminole State College’s campus on April 10. During his visit, he spoke to high school students participating in the FFA Interscholastic Meet, attended a reception with SSC employees, toured the BCM Sports Complex and met with representatives from the College’s Board of Regents and the SSC Educational Foundation..
