Program expels Orlando police

The Orlando Police Department was among more than 200 law enforcement agencies to join a training program designed to improve police culture and prevent misconduct. Last month, Orlando became the first department to get kicked out of the program, developed by Georgetown Law’s Active Bystandership for Law Enforcement, or ABLE, project.

Spending limits on the rise for city staff

In compliance with state law, some changes were made recently that allow Shawnee’s city manager more wiggle room to make pricier budgeted purchases without City Commission approval. Shawnee Assistant Finance Director Jacob Bussell said House Bill 2862 from the Oklahoma State Legislature modified state law so that the threshold for competitive bidding increased from $50,000 to $100,000 for municipalities.

Shooting outside Chicago pizza shop leaves 7 men wounded CHICAGO – A shooting outside a pizza shop on Chicago’s South Side has left seven men wounded, authorities said. The men were standing near the street Sunday afternoon when they were shot, police said.
