The Shawnee City Commission recently considered a request to reduce the speed limit on North Kickapoo from Westech Road to Garrett’s Lake Road from 45 mph to 35 mph, as well as to establish four-way stop intersections at both North Kickapoo and Wolverine Road, and North Kickapoo and Garrett’s Lake Road. Assistant City Manager and Engineering Director Seth Barkhimer said that, due to a series of complaints, city staff had reviewed traffic conditions along the corridor and identified safety concerns related to both speed and intersection control.
