The Shawnee Lady Wolves celebrated Senior Night Tuesday by taking first place in nine of 11 swimming events while competing against three other schools at the Shawnee Family YMCA pool. The Lady Wolves posted a team score of 398, followed by Harrah at 3-2, Choctaw at 194 and Plainview at 40.
There is a new addition to Shawnee's painted horses program. "David and Dana Taylor began working on their painted horse prior to the 2023 tornado," Stacy Cramer Moore, Shawnee's director of Tourism and Film and Music Office, said this week.
Following a jury trial this week, a Pottawatomie County jury found a Shawnee man guilty on two felony counts of first-degree robbery related to two separate incidents at the downtown Shawnee post office in 2024.
The Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday welcomed and announced Freeland Wood as the new Pottawatomie County sheriff. Wednesday marked his official first day as sheriff after winning the 2024 election for that seat.
