Through desire and multi-tasking, new Shawnee High School Boys’ Head Basketball Coach Chad Johnson proved he can pack a lot of work into limited time. Johnson, who played collegiate basketball at NCAA Division 1 Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tenn.

While many Shawnee residents flock to Splash in Woodland Veterans Park every summer, there’s a smaller version in town often overlooked by all except residents living in the area around Rotary Briscoe Boy Scout Park. Right now, many are watching and waiting for reconstruction of the splash pad to be finished as summer heat amps up and park neighbors seek some relief.

An alleged incident reported in a Shawnee High School classroom on Friday, May 9, has prompted parents to air concerns with the district and on social media, while several students also held a protest across the street from the school on Wednesday to raise their concerns. Shawnee's police chief, on Thursday, also confirmed a police investigation into the matter is ongoing.
