Ernest J. Palinkas, Sr., Born, 10/02/1923, died, 04/04/2022 WWII Veteran and Shawnee resident, Ernest J.

Shawnee Music Educator Peggy Horton died peacefully on September 19, 2021 in Owasso, Oklahoma. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church in Shawnee on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 10:00am.

Bobby Joe (Bob) Jones went to be with his LORD and Savior, Wednesday, April 13, after 96 years of loving his God, his family and his church. Bob was born, January 6, 1926, on a Deep Fork River farm near Chandler, to Raymond and Velma (Bonnie) Walker Jones. He died at home on his farm between Prague and Shawnee.

Katheren Marie (Eggleston) Devereaux was born May 4, 1932, in Chickasha, Okla., to Von and Ruby Eggleston. She transitioned to Glory on Monday, April 4, 2022, at the age of 89 years.

Alva Donald Melot of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, went peacefully to be with the Lord on April 11th, 2022, at the age of 103. He was born on January 13, 1919, to Vernon and Mary (Tinney) Melot in Wanette, Oklahoma, in a one room house on his father’s Potawatomi allotment. As a young boy, Alva moved with his family to Tecumseh, Oklahoma, where he remained a lifelong resident. He graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1937. He then went on to graduate from the University of Oklahoma with his master’s in education. Alva was dedicated to education, shown by his willingness to hitchhike to campus every single week.

Our Dad, Horace Ray Bates was born June 8, 1956 and passed away with loving family by his bedside on April 1, 2022. One of his granddaughters said that he was playing an April Fool’s joke and all of us half expected him to start laughing, pull all the wires and tubes out of him, get out of bed, grab a cigarette and laugh his butt off at us...

Wilma June (Vaughn) Jackson “Nanny” was born on February 15, 1941 in Mead, Oklahoma, to Mamie Mae “Big Momma” (Jones) and Walter Vaughn. She passed away in her home in Paden, on April 8, 2022, surrounded by family.
