Johnny Vinson Pritchard

Johnny Vinson Pritchard of Shawnee, passed peacefully from this life on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at the age of 90. He was born November 23, 1931 to Vinson Pritchard and Ina (Kelin) Pritchard in Seminole, OK. He married Patsy (Edwards) Pritchard on January 20, 1951, and they enjoyed 68 years together before her passing in August of 2019. Johnny graduated from Earlsboro High School in 1950. He enlisted in the Naval Reserves in 1952 and was honorably discharged in 1960. He began his career with the Federal Government in October, 1951 at the age of 19, as an aircraft armament mechanic. He received many promotions over the years and retired in 1986 as the Chief of Quality Control over jet engines, completing 35 years of devoted Federal Service. He continued his education while employed at Tinker Air Force Base and graduated from Oklahoma City University in 1962 with a B.A. in electronics. He was a member of Delta Pi Sigma. Johnny was an avid golfer at Firelake Golf Course and later was a member of the Elks Lodge for over 20 years. He enjoyed playing drums, driving his Corvette convertible, and taking road trips with Patsy. Carol ”Sue” Race

Carol “Sue” Race, formerly of Shawnee, passed away Friday, October 7, 2022, in Norman, Oklahoma. Born in Stilwell, Oklahoma on September 5, 1939, Sue was the youngest of five siblings born to Delmer and Zelma Foster. Her father died unexpectedly when Sue was two years old, leaving her mother a widow with five children. Sue’s mother ran a cafe to provide for her family and many of Sue’s early years were spent at the cafe. Through her mother’s example, Sue learned the importance of faith, family, and hard work. As a devoted wife and mother, Sue was a living example of unconditional love and loyalty. She and her beloved husband, Dick, provided their three daughters with a life-long example of commitment to marriage and family. They moved from Shawnee to Norman in 2003 to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Their daughters are eternally grateful for the gift of loving parents. Sue was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Shawnee, and attended McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church in Norman. Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Dick” Race, her parents and siblings. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in- law, Debbie and Bill McConnell, Lynne and Mark McGuire, Leslie and Tyler LaReau, all of Norman; granddaughter and husband, Lindsay and Jon Hawkins, grandson and wife, Clay and Chandra McConnell, granddaughters Morgan Bynum, Meredith Brown and her husband Hunter, Emma LaReau, Maggie McGuire, and Claire LaReau and seven greatgrandchildren.

Vivian Dockrey

We are saddened to announce that on October 4th, Vivian Dockrey of Shawnee Ok took her final breath, surrounded by loved ones. The world welcomed Vivian on February 24th, 1935.

Shirley Jean Hasbell

Shirley Jean Hasbell, a lifelong resident of Meeker, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2022 in Meeker, at the age of 73. Shirley was born on January 27, 1949 in Prague. She was the daughter of Robert Benjamin and Betty Ruth (Wright) Leabo. Shirley was raised in Meeker and graduated from Meeker High School. Shirley and her husband, Leon, owned and operated Payless Tree Service for many years. Shirley was a simple woman. She did not need much to make her happy. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and watching television. She spent the last part of her life, living at the Meeker Nursing Center, where she made some great relationships and great friends. Shirley’s favorite past time was watching the Oklahoma Sooners play football. She never missed a game and would make sure to be able to watch. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Charles Leabo. She is survived by her husband, Leon Hasbell; one daughter, Lisa Wasdin; four grandchildren, Ladonna Sadler, Lucas Wasdin, James Wasdin and Casey Wasdin; two great-grandchildren, LaBella Sadler and Kayden Wasdin; two brothers, Carl Leabo and his wife, Debra and Robert Leabo Jr.; one sister, Linda Essex and a host of family and friends. The family has asked that in Lieu of Flowers, donations be made to the American Diabetes Association. All services are private.
