GLOBAL FUND NEEDS SUPPORT

Dear editor, Over the past two years we’ve seen major setbacks in the fight against AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria as resources were diverted to deal with COVID-19. It is imperative we get back on track with these three diseases, continue fighting COVID-19, and prepare for future pandemics.

‘Human beings too often lust for power’ Dear editor, The drummers of American suspicions march relentlessly across our various media venues, messaging a “Call” sometimes subliminally, sometimes blatantly, to ready ears: “To arms! To arms! The enemy is here!” And the “enemy” is? Well, it seems just about anyone who disagrees with the drummers’ choruses, any fellow citizen who abides by other “Calls,” not to arms, but “Calls” to think about how things “are,” not how the “drummers” declare they are. The enemy is any fellow citizen who abides by the “Call” to seek middle ground, to pursue the things which make for peace and build up the common life.

Young couple’s PDA session prompts woman to chime in

DEAR ABBY: A few months ago, my daughter told me she was with her boyfriend at the local bowling alley and they were kissing and hugging. When she went to use the ladies’ room, she was followed by an older woman who proceeded to “advise” my daughter about the local family planning clinic, as well as offer her opinion that teenagers need to be very careful in their sex lives so they don’t end up as young parents and derail their futures.

Sterling: Medical marijuana policies

When I’m travelling in House District 27, I continually hear from constituents who are concerned about the prevalence of unlicensed marijuana grows in their communities. Addressing these illegal actions were a top priority for the Legislature this session. This year, we focused on bolstering regulations for medical marijuana businesses, with an emphasis on grow operations.
