The whirlwind four-day Middle East visit by President Donald Trump underscores both the complex nature of relationships within that volatile, vital region and his distinctive style. Since mainstream media coverage of Trump is so often negative, indeed the adversarial relationship is now established, more dispassionate evaluation becomes highly desirable.

Investing in Oklahoma's future
This week, the House and Senate passed the overall general appropriations bill, along with more than 50 others that set spending limits for state agencies and the programs they manage. These bills now head to the governor for his consideration.

Both legislative chambers and the governor have reached a deal on a budget that will keep state government funded through the next fiscal year. The Legislature is constitutionally required to pass a balanced budget before the session adjourns later this month.

At $12.59 billion, this budget not only supports the services Oklahomans rely on, but it also keeps $3.5 billion in savings to protect our future.
