DEAR ABBY: With the holidays approaching, I am starting to become anxious. I have a family member who ruins every holiday she doesn’t have control over. (She excludes some family members.) My children and grandchildren don’t like to associate with her, but attend holiday events at her home to keep the peace.
Dear editor, On October 3, the City Commission approved calling a special election on January 10 so citizens could vote on a ½-cent sales tax increase. They said this is necessary to repay a $65 million OWRB loan borrowed for wastewater improvements. If this tax increase fails, they say water rates will increase substantially.
DEAR ABBY: I have a friend who has recently separated from an abusive husband. I’ve always had feelings for her, and I recently let her know about them. My problem is, it seems like I have to walk through broken glass just for her to talk to me. Last week, I had emergency surgery, and even though she said she would, she never visited. Now that I’m out of the hospital, nothing has changed. Must I just let her go and forget about her? -- WANTS A CHANCE IN COLORADO
DEAR ABBY: My father-in-law, who lives out of state, regularly makes crude jokes and comments about his sex life or my sex life in my presence and in the presence of my wife, his wife and others. He once commented to me that he would be excited to see his daughter, my wife, in bed with a woman.
DEAR ABBY: My spouse and I work at the college where we were undergraduates. The school has a strong reunion tradition, and thousands of alumni come with their families to relive their college days. We live here year-round and are sort of done with reminiscing.
We convened in special session this week to vote on the Joint Committee on Pandemic Relief Funding’s recommendations for how the state should spend its remaining portion of more than $1.8 billion in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) pandemic relief funds.
