OKLAHOMA CITY – Saturday’s Class A Fall State Baseball Tournament championship game was a microcosm of the Dale Pirates’ season. The 2022 fall campaign featured a lot of bumps in the road and there were a lot of bumps in Saturday’s game, but Dale weathered the storms and stunned the top-ranked Silo Rebels 18-11 to capture its second state title under head coach Eddie Jeffcoat (the other came in the fall of 2019) and the school’s 22nd overall (fall and spring combined).

OKLAHOMA CITY – State tournaments don’t get old for Dale senior Chayse Caram. “This is the fourth time I’ve been here and it never gets easier,” said Caram, who smashed a clutch run-scoring single to center field in the top of the seventh inning to break a 2-all tie and lift the Lady Pirates to a 3-2 victory over Minco in the first round of the Class 2A State Tournament at the ASA Hall of Fame Complex.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Hannah Earlywine’s sacrifice fly scored Morgan Campbell in the top of the seventh inning Thursday as the North Rock Creek Lady Cougars rallied for a 5-4 win over Comanche in the first round of the Class 3A State Fast Pitch Softball Tournament at the ASA Hall of Fame Complex.

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Shawnee Wolves had all of the momentum going into halftime of Thursday night’s game against the John Marshall Bears at Taft Stadium. However, John Marshall’s Kylin Drennon took the second-half opening kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown as the Bears scored 22 unanswered points over the final two quarters in a 22-13 decision over Shawnee.

YUKON – JB Leaver tossed a five-hitter while Easton Edmonson, Ethan Douglas and Jack Rooker collected two hits each and Dayton Forsythe homered as the Dale Pirates cruised to a 6-3 triumph over the Rattan Rams Thursday in the opening round of the Class A Fall State Baseball Tournament at Yukon High School.

TECUMSEH – Serenity Jacoway’s walk-off double in the bottom of the eighth inning lifted the Tecumseh Lady Savages to a 3-1 victory over Newcastle and a Class 4A regional championship on Thursday. It was a bounce-back win for Tecumseh which dropped an 8-5 decision to Newcastle earlier in the day.

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – D’Erricka Frierson and Jill Leslie each hit over .478 and tallied double-digit kill totals to help Oklahoma Baptist defeat Southern Arkansas 3-1 on Thursday in Great American Conference action.

Week 6 of the high school football season will feature a Tri-County and District 2A-2 clash as the Chandler Lions visit the Bethel Wildcats for a 7 p.m. shootout.
