DURANT – Shawnee’s Anneca Anderson recorded a whopping 22 strikeouts, but it wasn’t enough as the Durant Lady Lions edged the Lady Wolves 2-0 in nine innings on Monday. Though the game was played in Durant, Shawnee was the designated home team.
TECUMSEH – Four Tecumseh players – Jessi Hull, Vivian Hayes, Katie Overstreet and Zariyah Masquas - had two hits each and Serenity Jacoway overcame a rough start from the circle as the Lady Savages upended the Byng Lady Pirates 6-1 on Monday.
NORMAN – Sarah Campbell’s walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning lifted the North Rock Creek Lady Cougars to a 3-2 triumph over Tuttle Monday in the Norman North Festival. All of the scoring for both teams was done in the eighth as the Lady Tigers tallied two runs in the top half of that frame.
STILLWATER, Okla.—Former Shawnee coach Mike Henry will be honored with the Lifetime Service to Wrestling Award by the Oklahoma Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame at its banquet in Edmond on Oct. 9 The Lifetime Service to Wrestling Award is given in recognition of 20 years or more of dedication to the development of leadership and citizenship in youth through the sport of wrestling.
OKLAHOMA CITY - The injury bug usually waits until midseason to start bothering the Oklahoma City Thunder. This time, it attacked in the offseason.
MEEKER – The Meeker Bulldogs have certainly taken their shots in the early portion of the 2022 football schedule. An 0-3 start wasn’t about to deter Meeker Friday night as the Bulldogs successfully opened district play with a 48-34 triumph over the Bethel Wildcats.
STIGLER – The Seminole Chieftains managed just 166 yards of offense as the Stigler Panthers overcame a one-point halftime deficit to claim a 34-8 victory Friday night. Seminole dropped to 2-3 on the season and 0-1 in its district opener.
