Former Oklahoma Baptist pitcher and current Texas Rangers player Taylor Hearn has been nominated by his team for the prestigious Roberto Clemente Award. The honor is bestowed annually to the player who best represents the game of baseball through extraordinary character, community involvement, philanthropy and positive contributions, both on and off the field.
DALE – Kinsley Hill tossed a four-hitter and Makenzy Herman went 2-for-3 with a triple and knocked in a run Saturday as the Dale Lady Pirates knocked off the Harrah Lady Panthers 3-1 to wrap up play in the Dale/ Tecumseh Tournament.
McLOUD – The McLoud Redskins received 100-plus yards rushing from Clint Campbell and 100-plus yards receiving from Zaylun Matlock in capturing a 21-7 victory over the Bethel Wildcats Friday night. Campbell netted 118 yards on 14 carries and Matlock caught six passes for 106 yards and a 22-yard touchdown from Kaden Carl.
Some of the same bugs which bit the Shawnee Wolves during Week 1 of the high school football season, chomped on them again Friday night during Week 2. Turnovers and penalties once again played a role in Shawnee’s demise as the Ardmore Tigers upended the Wolves 28-14 at Jim Thorpe Stadium.
PRAGUE – The Prague Red Devils rolled up 510 yards of offense and limited the North Rock Creek Cougars to 20 in securing a 62-12 non-district victory Friday night. Of Prague’s 510 yards, 409 came on the ground as Trevor McGinnis ran for 202 yards on 17 carries and had one touchdown while Aiden Auld netted 129 on nine attempts and scored twice.
TECUMSEH – After struggling from the plate most of the day, Tecumseh’s Vivian Hayes picked a great time to deliver and it came in crunch time. Vivian Hayes hit a walk-off hit in the bottom of the sixth inning as the co-host Lady Savages outlasted North Rock Creek 6-5 Thursday night during the first day of the Dale/Tecumseh Tournament.
BETHEL ACRES – Taylor Boles and Payton Epperley pitched back-to-back three-inning no-hitters Thursday as the Bethel Lady Wildcats crushed Crooked Oak twice by scores of 10-0, 11-0. Bethel 10, Crooked Oak (Game 1) Boles was perfect from the circle as she struck out seven and allowed no runs and no hits.

The 11-member management committee gathered Thursday for 4 1/2 hours at a hotel in the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport for the first time since their bosses voted last week to expand the CFP from four to 12 teams.
NEW YORK (AP) — Major League Baseball is set to announce a pitch clock and limits on defensive shifts next season in an effort to shorten games and increase offense. The sport’s 11-man competition committee is set to adopt the rules changes Friday, mandating a clock that will count down 15 seconds with no runners on base and 20 seconds with runners.
