DALE – The second-ranked Dale Pirates pounded out 31 hits in getting a two-game sweep and qualifying for the Class 4A State Slow Pitch Tournament on Wednesday. Dale, 31-6 on the season, popped Preston 13-3 in five innings in the regional opener and blanked Oktaha 17-0 in four innings to capture a 4A regional championship.
ADAIR – The Prague Red Devils saw their baseball season come to an end in Class 3A district play as they dropped 16-6, 14-2 decisions to host Adair. Adair 16, Prague 6 (Game 1) Prague received multiple-hit efforts from Aiden Auld and Conner Cline in the opener.

Dale High School baseball standout Tate Rector and Shawnee High School baseball star Kasen Rogers have been selected as Shawnee News-Star Tri-County Area Male Co-Athletes of the Week for April 18-23. North Rock Creek freshman track team member Caitlin Walls was named Tri-County Area Female Athlete of the Week Rector pitched two shutout victories and batted .750 over a four-game span as Dale went 2-2 in games last week.
The Potawatomi Fire continue their five-game homestand this weekend with a pair of games on Friday and Sunday at the Firelake Arena. The Fire entertains the Little Rock Lightning at 7 p.m.

McALESTER – Gage Mullins’ walk-off RBI double in the bottom of the seventh lifted the McAlester Buffaloes to a 9-8 victory over the Shawnee Wolves Tuesday night. With the win, McAlester got the Class 5A district split with Shawnee after the Wolves claimed a 5-4 decision Monday at Memorial Park’s Ed Skelton Field.
