Bethel shut out by Ada, 5-0

PURCELL – The Ada Cougars held the Bethel Wildcats to six hits and off the scoreboard in recording a 5-0 decision Thursday in the first round of the Purcell Heart of Oklahoma Tournament. Ada broke a scoreless tie with a single run in the fourth, three in the fifth and one in the seventh.

Bizzell’s walk-off grand slam lifts Meeker over Wellston

MEEKER – Emily Bizzell hit a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the seventh inning Thursday as the Meeker Lady Bulldogs stunned the Wellston Lady Tigers 15-13. Katlin Alford, who also homered, went 4-for-4 with one RBI, five runs scored and a walk while teammate Icle Brewer was also 4-for-4 with two doubles, two runs batted in, three runs scored and a walk.

All-Stars by Class

Dale High School guard Faith Wright was named to the Oklahoma Coaches Association Small East All-State Girls Basketball Team for 2022. One of Wright’s teammates, guard Mackenzie Gill, joined her as being a 2A All-Star by Class.

Mayfield: Browns ‘disrespected,’ deceived him about future

CLEVELAND (AP) — Baker Mayfield feels the Cleveland Browns deceived him about their offseason plans, which resulted in them trading for Deshaun Watson. Speaking on a podcast, Mayfield, whose tumultuous four-year run as Cleveland’s quarterback essentially ended when the team acquired Watson in a stunning deal last month with the Houston Texans, said the team was not upfront with him.
