Remember this time last year, when there was near-universal outrage directed at the NCAA for its condescending and sexist view of the women’s basketball tournament and the athletes playing in it? The weight room that wasn’t? The dismal food? The tournament swag that couldn’t have been worse had it been regifts? Keep that energy up. Because while the NCAA will trumpet the steps it has taken toward equity, they are little more than cosmetic measures that could have been done – but weren’t – the minute last year’s tournament ended.

OKLAHOMA CITY – The gold ball is now in possession of the Dale Pirates. The experienced but youthful Pirates rode the scoring of the sophomore combo of Dayton Forsythe and Deken Jones in derailing the Cashion Wildcats 65-58 in the Class 2A boys state championship game Saturday night at the State Fairgrounds Arena.

MESQUITE, Texas – Deshawn Munson fired in 34 points, grabbed six rebounds and had three steals Saturday as the Potawatomi Fire torched the Rockwall 7’ers 108-92 in The Basketball League (TBL) action.
ADA – Kade Self was instrumental in Oklahoma Baptist’s two wins at East Central on Sunday. The Bison took the GAC contests by 21-3 and 25-8 counts and improved their record to 11-10 and 7-5 in conference play.
Two home runs, courtesy of Adi Reese and Maud’s Jocee Sparks , powered Oklahoma Baptist to a 3-1 victory over the East Central Tigers Sunday afternoon in the series finale. OBU (14-9 overall and 6-4 in the Great American Conference) earned its second series win of the season as the Bison took game one of Saturday’s doubleheader 3-0.
ASHER – The Asher Indians rallied for four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to edge Moss 10-9 Saturday in the first game of a doubleheader. Moss took the second game by a 16- 12 count as the two teams settled for the split.
OKLAHOMA CITY – Sparked by the scoring and rebounding of super sophomore Dayton Forsythe, the top-ranked Dale Pirates earned a 60-43 triumph over Hooker Thursday night in the opening round of the Class 2A Boys State Basketball Tournament at the State Fairgrounds Arena.
