WOODWARD – At least nine Bethel High School powerlifters qualified for state after the Wildcats recently captured a Class 2A state regional title in the Northwest Regional Meet at Woodward High School.

Dale High School basketball star Makenzie Gill was named Shawnee News-Star Tri-County Female Athlete of the Week and Dayton Forsythe, also a Dale basketball standout, achieved the Male Award for Feb. 28-March 5.

Former Shawnee High School basketball standout Makyra Tramble, who was recently named Great American Conference Women’s Player of the Year, has gained yet another honor. Tramble collected 22 points, grabbed seven rebounds, dished out five assists, registered three steals and blocked two shots as top-seed Southwestern Oklahoma State hammered Arkansas Tech 89-68 to capture the Great American Conference Championship on Sunday at Firelake Arena in Shawnee.

NORMAN — Baker Mayfield‘s statue in Heisman Park was set to be unveiled as part of the 2020 OU spring game before the COVID-19 pandemic wiped out the event. Two years later, the statue is set to finally be dedicated.

STILLWATER — The tenure of the second-winningest head coach in Oklahoma State women’s basketball history is coming to an end. Jim Littell and the university mutually agreed to part ways at the conclusion of the season, the school announced on Monday.
