The old saying that ‘solid defense leads to good offense’ played out to true form Tuesday night as the Shawnee Lady Wolves upended the Tulsa Memorial Lady Chargers 57-30 in the opening round of the Class 5A regional playoffs at the SHS Performing Arts and Athletic Center. Shawnee, 17-7, advances to the regional finals at home Friday against Pryor, which knocked off Claremore in the other first-round regional clash.
DURANT – Jayden Shafer and Braden Smith each cranked out a pair of home runs Tuesday as the Oklahoma Baptist University Bison smashed the Southeastern Oklahoma State Savage Storm 17-7 in seven innings on Tuesday.

DALE - To no one’s surprise, Dale swept their Regional Championship games before heading to the Area Championship games later this week in McAlester. Lady Pirates 77, Oktaha 50 Dale withstood Oktaha’s best shot Monday night.

The Shawnee swim team's bus was welcomed back to town from Jenks late Tuesday night with a lights-and-sirens police escort to celebrate the repeat state champions as they returned to Shawnee High School. This is the fourth straight year for the Shawnee Lady Wolves swim team to win the state title in Class 5A.

CLAREMORE – Shawnee High School had four state qualifiers – Kade Carter, Logan Skelton, Blayne Taber and Booker Dahlman - come out of the Class 5A regional wrestling tournament hosted by Claremore on Saturday.

MONTICELLO, Ark. – Oklahoma Baptist (8-7, 3-0 GAC) scored nine unanswered runs during an 11-1, run-rule victory over Arkansas-Monticello on Sunday.

Oklahoma Baptist started off the baseball conference series against Arkansas-Monticello with a 6-3 win in the opening game. The Bison cooled off in the second game, allowing the Weevils to even the series score with a 16-8 final in the day's closing action.

DALE – Class 2A top-ranked Dale placed four players in double figures Friday night as the Pirates drained 12 three-point baskets in rolling to a 93-42 thumping of Pawnee in the first round of regional action.
