Oklahoma Baptist started off the baseball conference series against Arkansas-Monticello with a 6-3 win in the opening game. The Bison cooled off in the second game, allowing the Weevils to even the series score with a 16-8 final in the day's closing action.
DALE – Class 2A top-ranked Dale placed four players in double figures Friday night as the Pirates drained 12 three-point baskets in rolling to a 93-42 thumping of Pawnee in the first round of regional action.
EARLSBORO - Haileyville struck first but Earlsboro had little trouble taking the lead and pulling away for a big 61-30 win Friday to stay alive in the Class B regional playoffs. However, the Wildcats were eliminated from the regional after dropping a 54-51 decision to Carney on Saturday Haileyville took a 1-0 lead early, but Quintin Lena scored five straight points and Elias Barraza closed the first quarter with four of his own to give the Wildcats a 12-5 lead after one.
BETHEL ACRES - Bethel made easy work in a pair of 3A District Championships with two easy wins over Marietta to advance to the winners’ bracket of a Regional Tournament in Bethel later this week.
EARLSBORO - Earlsboro struggled in the third quarter, falling behind by 10 before fighting back and cutting the lead to only three before losing a 54-50 decision to Wilson (Henryetta) on Friday in Class B regional play. Earlsboro went on to fall to Strother 68-50 on Saturday to see its season come to an end at 19-7.
OKLAHOMA CITY – House Bill 1939, authored by Rep. Danny Sterling, R-Tecumseh, passed the Transportation Committee last week.
The 10th-ranked North Rock Creek Lady Cougars went on a 20-3 first-quarter scoring blitz and cruised to a 68-33 rout of the Seminole Lady Chieftains Saturday in Class 4A district playoff action.
McLOUD – Creighton Conley and Emma Eslinger posted huge scoring efforts as the Class 4A 16th-ranked McLoud Lady Redskins bounced the Byng Lady Pirates 74-30 in a district playoff contest.
