Mary Ramona Moore, age 87 of Wanette, passed away Monday, April 11, 2016, at Norman Regional Hospital.

She was born Jan. 15, 1929, in Dyersburg, Tennessee. She was the sixth child of seven children born to John Marion Simpson and Mildred Garloyn (Childress) Simpson. Mary grew up a farm girl living in Dyersburg.

At the age of 15 she married the love of her life, James W. Moore. They were married on June 1, 1944, in Caruthersville, Missouri. For the first 19 years of her married life, she and James raised 10 children and lived half of the time in Tennessee and half of the time in New Mexico. In 1963 they moved to Moore, and after James died in 1975 she moved to Wanette.

Mary worked hard as a wife, mother and homemaker, however, at different times in her life she did work outside of the home. While her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were growing up, she became their full-time babysitter. And when called upon she would also babysit other children in the community.

Mary was a faithful Christian and member of the Grace Communion International Church in Ada for the past 48 years. She loved being outdoors and enjoyed gardening, canning and cooking. In her later years she also enjoyed dancing. She will be greatly missed by her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents: John and Millie Simpson; husband: James W. Moore on May 27, 1975; six brothers and sisters, all from Tennessee; one son: Charles Gary Moore; three sons-in-law: Tim Finney, Jim Chambers, and Ted Williams; three granddaughters: Rosana Prater, Catherine Doden Williams, and Shelby Renee Martinez.
