Shawnee resident Peggye Ann Blackwell, 82, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2016.

She was born Nov. 22, 1933, in Wewoka, Oklahoma, to JB and Hazel (Williams) Dover.

Peggye married Billy James Blackwell Sr. on July 15, 1951. Together they made their home and raised their six children.

Peggye loved to sing and had many competition certificates. She was a member of Sweet Adelines International Chorus and the Sooner Sensations Chapter. She enjoyed singing songs and nursery rhymes with all of her grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing Yahtzee (Hootsie!), Chicken Feet with double 9 dominos, Pig Mania, and Aggravation on a homemade wooden board.

Peggye was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend who was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Those left to cherish their memories are her children, Bill and Elizabeth Blackwell, Scott and Pam Blackwell, Barry and JoAnn Blackwell, Steve Blackwell, Shelley and Greg Gilbert, and Shawna and Monte Moore; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sisters, Pat Muzny and Cathy Shipman.

Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, April 17, at Resthaven Funeral Home.

Services will be 10 a.m., Monday, April 18, at Northridge Church of Christ with Brother Wayne Stevens officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
