A Macomb man was critically injured in a crash early Tuesday morning when his pickup struck a retaining wall near Wanette.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said that accident occurred about 2:05 a.m. on County Road East 1380, about 2/10 of a mile west of State Highway 102 and 2.8miles north of Wanette in Pottawatomie County.
A 1989 Chevy S10 pickup driven by Frank Alan Lamirand, 59, was eastbound when he failed to negotiate a curve and departed the roadway to the left and struck the retaining wall, the OHP said.
He was transported by Wadley's EMS to the Wanette Fire Station before being airlifted by Air Evac to OU Medical Center, the OHP reported.
Lamirand was admitted with head, internal and external trunk, and leg injuries, the report shows. A nurse supervisor said he remained in critical condition Tuesday night.
The patrol lists the driver's condition and the cause of the collision as driving under the influence. Seat belts were equipped, but were not in use.
Trooper Troy Thompson worked the crash scene with assistance from Wadley's EMS and the Wanette Fire Department.
