SHAWNEE, OK – Redbud City Night on the Bricks was recognized as Outstanding Event at the Frontier Country Marketing Association’s 2016 annual awards luncheon, part of the marketing association’s annual meeting.
Redbud City Night on the Bricks beat out other festivals in the 12 county Frontier Country area that includes Oklahoma City, Norman, Moore, Edmond, Yukon, Midwest City and Del City.
The festival was a result of the new branding campaign spearheaded by Visit Shawnee Inc. and the City of Shawnee. According to Ed Bolt with Safe Events for Families, an event organizer, “This event came together in just six weeks and really demonstrated what the Shawnee area can do when we all pull together.” Redbud City Night on the Bricks was on Friday, April 15 and included a Community Connection dinner that was free to the public and live music provided by local area high school jazz bands. The festival also included redbud art created by local children at Arts Trek, a bake sale and a display of all of the new community logos developed out of the branding campaign.
“We are so happy to receive this award,” said Danna Fowble, President and CEO of Visit Shawnee. “We were able to pull this event together very quickly and couldn’t have done it without our sponsors and all of the community support. We are looking forward to planning the 2017 event!”
Frontier Country Marketing Association is a non-profit, membership-based marketing association that promotes tourism in the 12 central counties of Oklahoma, which includes Pottawatomie County.
