Jack Holt, 77, of Shawnee, passed from this life on Friday, Aug 26, 2016, at his home in Shawnee.

He was born Aug 9, 1939, to Leroy and Pearl (Coody) Holt in Tecumseh. Jack grew up in Tecumseh and attended school at Harjo. He was a lifelong area resident and served his country in the U S Army.

Jack married Carolyn “Sue” (Licklider) on Dec. 1, 1967 in Tecumseh. He was a truck driver all of his life until retirement in 1985. During his career, he was self-employed, hauled dirt and gravel, owned a gas station, and worked for several companies during those years.

Jack loved working with horses, enjoyed Gene Autry and John Wayne western movies, and loved time with his grandchildren. He was a member of Pentecostal Church of God and Faith Christian Outreach.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his grandfather (Jack’s namesake) “Pap” Denton Holt.

Jack is survived by his wife, Sue of the home; daughter, Gayla and Mike Higgins of Shawnee; son, Tim and Kim Holt of Rochester, New York; daughter; Kelli and Brad Cox of Tecumseh; and daughter, Kristi and Jeff Peters of Shawnee; nine grandchildren; eight great grand-children; sister, Karen and Fred Rutherford of Shawnee; two nephews and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, Aug. 29, and continue through service time. Family gathering to meet with friends and family will be from 5 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, Aug. 29, at Cooper Funeral Home.

Service will be 3 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 30, at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Destry Newman and the Rev. Travis Hurst officiating. Burial will follow at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.

Jack’s favorite color was red. Please feel free to join the family in wearing red.
