Daniel Nicholas Halterman, 71, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016 in Shawnee.

Daniel Nicholas Halterman, 71, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016 in Shawnee.

He was born April 5, 1945, to Harry Homer and Irma Seoditha (Finkbone) Halterman in Gravity, Iowa.

Daniel was raised in Carolton, Missouri and attended Carolton Public Schools and was a 1963 graduate of Tolleson Union High School in Tolleson, Arizona.

He lived in Phoenix, Arizona for 30 years and Aurora, Colorado, for 14 years before settling in Tecumseh where he has resided since 2009.

Daniel married Mary “Louise” Bruno on June 26, 1965, in Phoenix.

He retired as District Manager from The Hoover Company after 35 years of service.

Daniel was a member of The Shawnee United Pentecostal Church. He loved being a part of the families Native American ceremonies and was a family member of the Thunder Clan. Daniel enjoyed working hard and staying busy. He enjoyed spending time with his family; church was the focal point of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Irma Halterman; sisters, Irma Maxine Johnson and Marie Pearson; and brothers, Glenn Halterman, Sr., Harry Halterman and Wendell Halterman.

Daniel is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Mary “Louise” Halterman; daughter, Gail Halterman of Tecumseh; son, Bryan Halterman of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Jackie Bullard of Tecumseh; grandchildren, Ashleigh Halterman of Tecumseh, Tiffany Halterman of Demorest, Georgia; one great-granddaughter, Haleigh Halterman of Tecumseh; two sisters, Carline and Bill Black of Pearce, Arizona, and Marvene Halterman of Phoenix; three brothers, Glenn and Faye Halterman of Cashion, Arizona, Harry and Lisa Halterman of Waco, Texas and Wendell and Linda Halterman of Kansas City, Missouri; and other extended family and friends.

Visitation will be 1 to 7 p.m., Monday, Sept. 5, and continue through service.

Service will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Vance Bowman of The Shawnee United Pentecostal Church officiating. Burial will follow at South Fairview Cemetery in Harjo under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
