OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — An Oklahoma County jail inmate has pleaded guilty to manslaughter for choking his cellmate to death in 2014.
Prosecutors had charged 40-year-old Ragle Demond Johnson with first-degree murder in the May 21, 2014, killing of inmate Cecil Robert Arnold. Johnson pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter at a court hearing Wednesday, and he's set for sentencing on Oct. 24.
According to The Oklahoman Johnson admitted in court documents that he put Arnold in a choke hold because he was "trying to make him go to sleep."
Johnson had been jailed after he was arrested for allegedly throwing rocks at cars in Oklahoma City. Arnold was in jail on a probation violation.
