Sept. 10, 2016, brought to a close 79 years of a life well lived for Iris E. Belshe.

Iris was born Sept. 1, 1937, in Matoy, Oklahoma, to Estelle (Smith) and O’Brien Adams. Iris married the love of her life, Doug Belshe on April 20, 1954, and they celebrated 62 years of marriage.

A seamstress and a quilter, she loved sewing. Iris enjoyed reading and gardening and sitting on the back porch watching the animals. Known for her ability to quiet and calm a baby, she was lovingly called the baby whisperer. Iris loved her family as they were a very close knit family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Estelle and O’Brien Adams.

Iris is survived by her husband, Doug Belshe of the home; daughters, Donna Break and husband Pat, Cristy Hutchens and husband Mark, Cheryl Rice and husband Tim, and Terri Mercado and husband Jim Mercado IV; brothers, Howard Adams, and Douglas Adams and wife Sharon; sister, Becky Adams; grandchildren, Joely Jarrels and husband Julian, Nicole Bradley and husband Brandon, Shelbi McGuire and Cody Vick, and Jim Mercado, V; and great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Madison and Jacob Spencer, Jordan Jarrels, Aniystn, Beckham and Landri Bradley, Casen and Mia Vick; and numerous other family and lifelong friends.

Services to celebrate Iris’ life will be 1 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 15, at Resthaven Funeral Home’s Chapel in Oklahoma City, located at 500 SW 104th St., with interment to follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
