A jury term is underway in Pottawatomie County District Court.

Jury selection was held Monday for an Ada man charged in connection with an August shooting incident in south Pottawatomie County.

Rhett Steven Martin Ragland, 21, is standing trial this week on two counts of assault and battery with a deadly weapon.

A Pottawatomie County murder case involving a 2015 homicide also was set for trial Monday but that trial has been postponed.

John Joseph Quinter Jr., 45, is charged with murder in the first degree and is accused, on or about Sept. 19, 2015, at 15 Angie Lane, of causing the death of Robert Dale Almon, 35, by “shooting him multiple times in the body and head with a 12 gauge shotgun,” charges allege.

Almon’s body was found in the middle of Angie Lane Sept. 19, 2015 following a reported altercation with a homeowner, later identified as Quinter.

Quinter's next court date is now scheduled for Oct. 25.
