NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — Police in Norman says a pedestrian has died after being struck by a freight train.

First responders were called to the scene Monday following the collision on the south side of the city. The incident has forced the closure of several streets in the area around the train track and it was not immediately clear how long the roads would remain closed. The train is expected to be stopped on the tracks for at least two hours until crews can clear the scene.

The name of the victim and the identity of the owner of the train was not immediately available. Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.
