MEEKER — Nick Francisco Diaz Jr., 69, of Kingston, passed away Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016, at his home in Kingston. He was born on Aug. 23, 1947, in Santa Monica, Calif., to the late Nick Francisco Diaz Sr. and Fern Isabel Webster Jones. Nick was raised in Midwest City, where he graduated from high school. He later served from 1965 to 1971 in the United States Marines during the Vietnam era. Nick worked as an Electrician for Matthews Electric Company and D&H Electric Company in Midwest City where he went by “Mike”. He became a CLEET Certified Police Officer and worked in Chandler, Okla., Lincoln County Sheriff Office and Meeker, Okla. He also worked as the Chief Building Official and Building Maintenance Manager for the City of Midwest City before going to work for the City of Ardmore as the Chief Building Code Administrator and was currently the Director of Development Services. He married Julie Lavonne Harper on Oct. 9, 1987, in Sherman, Texas. Nick was a Master Inspector and he was affiliated with the Church of Christ. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching OU football.

He is survived by his wife, Julie Diaz, Kingston; children, Nick J. Diaz and wife, Angela, Edmond, Angie Diaz, Midwest City, Lara Donnell and husband, Richard, Kingston, Nicki Diaz and Justin Sisk, Kingston; seven grandchildren: Brycen and Breylan Diaz, Gavin Diaz, Aiden and Gracie Donnell, Jaylee Floyd and Braedan Verrett; brother, Richard Diaz, Kingston; and sister, Gloria Rogers and husband, Randall, Shawnee.

Memorials may be made to the Kingston Public Schools in Memory of Nick Diaz Memorial Scholarship to be awarded to a student going to a trade school or college in Plumbing, Electric, HVAC and Construction, P.O. Box 370, Kingston, OK 73439 Attn: Kathy Burnett.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, at the New Hope Cemetery, Meeker, Okla. Mike Hobbs will officiate the service. Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home, Madill. Condolences may be sent to wattsfuneralhome.com.
