It's Fall and almost Halloween, so it's time to get ready for Boo on Bell events in downtown Shawnee Thursday, Oct. 20 through Saturday, Oct. 22.

It's Fall and almost Halloween, so it's time to get ready for Boo on Bell events in downtown Shawnee Thursday, Oct. 20 through Saturday, Oct. 22.

There will be a carnival all three days of the event. It will be located in the public parking lot behind Neal's Furniture. The carnival will be open from 6-10 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and from 1-10 p.m. on Saturday.

Friday's activities will include Monsters and Marshmallows, Nasty Weather will perform from 6-9 p.m., and there will be paranormal tours of the local radio station and Ritz Theatre.

The bulk of the action will be on Saturday starting at 11 a.m. with the Frankenmutt Howl'oween pet costume contest. Several bands, including Joel T. Mossman, Zero2Sixty and Maxximum Overdrive will be performing throughout the day.

Boo on Bell's costume contest will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday. Costumes will be judged in three categories, 12 and under, 13 and older and family.

The highlight of the festivities is the Zombie March. It will begin at Reliable Transmission, 105 W. Main St. Zombies are encouraged to meet at Reliable Transmission around 6:30 with the march beginning at 7:15 p.m. The Zombie March will be lead by Stompin' Sensation dance school.

On Saturday evening the festivities will conclude with The Hornbeck Theatre showing the 2016 version of Ghostbusters at 7 p.m. and the original at 9:45.

Because of Boo on Bell, there also will be street closures. Bell Street, from 7th to 9th and Main Street from Beard to Bell will be closed Friday through Sunday. The intersection of Bell and 9th will be closed 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday. Bell from 9th Street north to the oval will be closed Saturday.
