Greetings Savvy Seniors! The biggest election chaos has ended and now, we can go back to listening to each other, respecting and loving our family and friends with opinions that were different from ours! Starting today, we can focus on sending up prayers for each other, our nation and leaders, plus all of our society.

Greetings Savvy Seniors! The biggest election chaos has ended and now, we can go back to listening to each other, respecting and loving our family and friends with opinions that were different from ours! Starting today, we can focus on sending up prayers for each other, our nation and leaders, plus all of our society.

Savvy Seniors, we are living in a different society now, than when we were raising our children. Therefore, I am sharing some important information to help us be aware of what is going on around us at all times. We have grown slack in our awareness and being alert at all times since the horrible 9/11 attack. I am sure some of you have relatives living in New York, Virginia and Texas and are aware that fear creeped in over last week-end due to terror threats for New York, Virginia and Texas. My relatives in Texas stated their governor broadcast a speech last week on the need to be alert and prepared to protect yourself. Mr. Jason Hanson, a former American CIA officer, who gives briefings on spy, survival and terror threats in hopes it will help in protecting all, sent out a letter reminding to be alert and prepared for lone wolf or others in today’s society.

The letter was very basic sharing how important it is for one to be alert to their surroundings. Have you noticed people are walking and watching some electronic gadget in their hand, not even aware of the area. He stated the main thing was to KEEP YOUR HEAD UP, and not to walk around with headphones, staring at your phone and other gadgets, oblivious to your surroundings.

Mr. Hanson said: “If you own a gun and a permit to carry concealed, he highly recommended doing so, as the best way to stop a terrorist is to incapacitate them. And, in each instance, no one had any protection in the movies, restaurants, malls or walking on the streets. Even if you don’t own a gun, you should still have some way to defend yourself. He said a terrorist can look like anyone. Instead, watch for people behaving strangely and/or is the person dressed inappropriately for the weather? Wearing a winter coat even though it’s warm? Be alert if the person is displaying odd gestures or mannerisms?  Mr. Hanson also stated to always trust your gut. If something doesn’t feel right, if a person is somewhere they aren’t supposed to be or if they are paying too close attention or appears to be following you or someone else, and looking around nervously, then leave the area immediately and alert someone to the situation.

So, to all my dear Savvy Seniors, may we go forth into each day, with God in our hearts and mind, being alert, prepared, prayed up and ready to stand up, not only for our safety, but for all. So, here’s for having a safe and happy week!

Psalms 119:117 – “Hold thou me up, and I shall be safe; and I will have respect unto thy statutes continually.”
